A good old fashioned somewhat monthly newsletter about all things singin', pickin', and storytellin' happening in the near 'n not-so-distant future...

Eli Elkus is a Musical Storyteller, SongCraftsman, and Folk Activist currently residing in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. He began sculpting his craft as a young troubadour fishin' for songs by the riversides and busking in the streets of New England. It was here the love of folk music and storytelling found him, connecting with perfect strangers through meter, melody, and merit-making story and song. Music for the people, by the people. No frills and no show business. And so it goes. The ramblin’ folk singer plays and tells for multigenerational audiences across the USA and beyond, freewheelin’ in his road sweet home 'JeBus' with his trusty hound Bronco.

His performances draw upon a vast repertoire of original songs and stories from his travels and rekindlings of Old Timey Americana, Folk & Blues songs dating back to the early 1900s. The songs tell tales of humanity and treasures of the natural world. Recent works have been in cahoots with his partner in life and songcrafting Lara Wahl, including their first album together, Postcards From Heaven, and short musical film, "Lazy-Eyed Dreamer".

The music industry has tried to shove Divine Feminine in a closet in the same way that colonialism has tried to with Gaia. The journey back to Heaven is a fierce one fraught with persecution. Music in Sacred Partnership as World Renewal Ceremony casts a spell which breaks oppressive conventions based on colonialism’s lies of separation, and Aligns the individual back to a Sacred Ecology. Music as Reverent Alchemy opens portals to this Sacred Ecology where all answers can be found to help guide humanity back to simple Being in Heaven on Earth. “Postcards From Heaven” is the culmination of years of our dedicated inquiry into this Sacred Alchemy. Each Song in “Postcards From Heaven” is a spell, a seed, and a blueprint Lent to us while in Sacred Partnership for returning to Heaven that is Earth. We pass these seeds on to you.

Musical Storytelling & Folk Singing Campfire Circle with Eli Elkus

Riverside Park / Sunderland Public Library’s Backyard, 20 School Street, Sunderland, MA 01375

Hosted by Eli Elkus, Sunderland Public Library & Sunderland Fire Department

Tuesday, August 20th 6:30pm-8pm

Rain Date: Wednesday, August 21st

Free & Open to the Public

Gather ‘round the campfire in Riverside Park for an evening of Musical Storytelling, Folk Singing, pickin’ and grinnin'! Folks of all ages are encouraged to attend and participate in this hootin’ and hollerin' family affair.

The evening will begin with original songs & stories by Eli - tales of travel, humanity, and treasures of the natural world. After which, he will open the circle for good old fashioned hootenanny. All together now! Bring your voices, acoustic instruments if you please (harmonicas, washboards, gitars, fiddles, banjos…) your dancing feet, or just your ears. There will be a few instruments provided (a tambourine, shakers, a washtub bass, ukuleles…) that all are welcome to use.

Folk Music is a living tradition based on an ever-amassing and everchanging collection of the commonfolk's stories. It is an intergenerational conversation throughout time, in which we all have a voice, weaving the past with the present and changing the future. Music for the people, by the people. Take part in the magic of this age old oral tradition as we rekindle songs that have been passed down for generations. The songs are intuitive for folks of all ages and abilities to pick up and there may well be some you already know. For a good song, all you need are two chords and the truth. Sing it with others and it’s a Folk Song.

See you around the campfire.
